This Analytical Report is asking a question different than the writing I am used to. I am used to writing analysis and conducting interviews to create a writing piece, but I have never used the two together. This assignment is asking to learn more about the type of writing that will be used in the field of interest of a first year student. For myself, I am interested in Business. I know that there are types of business with math that do not use a lot of writing, but then there is also marketing that involves writing towards clients. After conducting interviews from someone who either teaches the subject of interest or is a business professional, and conducting research from three scholarly and three non academic articles I will learn more about the language, structure, and the style of writing that I will continue to use in my future. It is much different than comparing different kinds of texts and readings that I have been used to in my past English classes. I used to compare and contrast the different articles or books being read in class looking for author' craft and the overall theme of the text. This assignment looks into the type of writing and how the text should be written in order to be correct for the type of interest I have. This interview is different than the Journalism I am used to because it requires digging deeper into what I am truly searching for instead of just the basics. It is similar in the way that I am finding research and looking deeper into the text.
My three questions are
1. What if your interest changes after taking more classes?
2. What kinds of articles would be considered non academic articles?
3. Will we be receiving in class time to work, edit, and research for our paper?
