Similarities-
1. Each page has the page number in the upper right hand corner to keep it in order
2. Papers are both double spaced
3. In work cited, the first line is not indented and the rest are
4. Work cited is alphabetized by author's last name
Differences-
1. APA is split-up in different parts like the abstract and separated by headings while MLA is more of just one long paper
2. APA states the short-ended title in the upper right hand corner by the page number while MLA has the writer's last name
3. APA uses "References" and MLA uses "Work Cited"
4. APA requires a separate title page while MLA puts the title above the paper
5. APA uses the year with the author's name and MLA uses the name and page number
