Sources for Major Assignment

1. https://www-jstor-org.proxy.lib.uiowa.edu/stable/357861?seq=1#metadata_info_tab_contents

This source was found on JSTOR and it is a journal article, meaning that it is an academic source. It is an excerpt from a book called "College Composition and Communication" by Elizabeth Tebeaux. It also states 15 references were used in the creation of this expert in order to get the most information out of it. That also means because of the title of the book, it is used by other professionals as well making it not only a good source to use, but a good academic source. I will use this source in my paper to discuss how a business person will write. Different types of jobs have different types of writing that are used by the individuals. This journal states the types of writing I will use in my future (budget reports, grant proposals, minutes of meetings, speeches, client proposals, and more) and what type of writing I will not be using (instructions, procedures, and other things that would be used in science jobs).

2. https://search.proquest.com/docview/234415673/fulltextPDF/D77305528E0D492EPQ/8?accountid=14663

This source was found on ProQuest. It is an academic source because it is from an academic journal. It is called "Business Writing: A Foolproof System for Getting Started." It gives lists of similar articles on the side as well to give out more information to the reader like this one. Due to the fact that it is an academic journal it can be assumed that other business professionals use this type of article and have looked at it. It is also from 1999, which in some cases would not be a quality source, but because business has remained the same with just changes in technology it is a quality source. I will use with source in my paper to help understand how as business person, I will write. I know that I have to write to clients, but it is the way that one writes to the clients that will make a break a deal with them. I will use the so called "foolproof system" guidelines in my paper to generate the ideas of how one's writing would look and sound.

3. how-to-improve-your-business-writing

This source was found on google scholar. While it is Harvard Business Review and it was found on a good database, it is a nonacademic source. It uses an author that is knowledgable in her field based on her credentials and the past articles she has written. There are no citations so the information is based off of her knowledge leading it to not be used by business professionals. I will use this source because the information is still what I am looking for. It helps tell me not just the type of writing that business people use, but what it should look like and sound like and how to better write like someone in the business world. I think that that type of information is what I was missing at that moment in the paper.
