Interview

In my interview, I asked my mom many questions about what her job is like in the field of business. For her, she has been working in this filed (specifically advertising and marketing) for 25 years. Rhetoric in general in the field of business is mostly based on communication with one another. She was telling me that the most important part of the job is communicating efficiently with the client and creating a good bond to not only be able to sell your ideas but to almost sell yourself as part of the deal, and the other important part is communicating well with the rest of your team. Business is different than other jobs in writing as well because of the amount of people that go into a business. When there is a job that needs to be done there are a large amount of people that go into creating the final product. There are people in charge of the finances and the money side of it who write out budget plans and sheets, people who are in direct communication with the clients who need to write professional emails, and like my mom and like what I hope to do, there are people who create the marketing and advertising plan and proposals to give to the clients. My mom was someone that wrote many advertising campaigns that all in general had the basis behind it of what way can the company give the client what they are asking for in the amount of time they have with the amount of money they are willing to spend and because they were all the same, there was a template that they used and filled in with each client they were given. The basis of business is direct communication and brainstorming with a team and with the client, but there is some writing involved. The writing is given to the clients and needs to be professional, straight forward, get their attention, and say exactly what you want them to hear so they agree to work with you.
